This collection contains correspondence pertaining to the activities of the 6th Massachusetts Regiment, commanded by Colonel Edward F. Jones in Baltimore, Maryland from April to July 1861.
Dr. J. Hanson Thomas manuscript collection
This collection contains the correspondence of Dr. John Hanson Thomas sent during his imprisonment during the Civil War. Dr. Thomas and his wife, Annie Campbell Thomas, née Gordon, wrote each other almost every day during his time as a prisoner of war from September 1861 to February 1862, and letters between the couple make up the majority of the collection. These letters discuss daily life in the prison camp, political views, current events, and family matters.
George Cornwell and William Mead correspondence
This collection consists of a series of letters written by George Cornwell and William Mead during the Civil War. The collection contains photo copies of originals and typed transcripts.
Glenn papers
The collection is comprised primarily of correspondence as well as legal documents, deeds, wills and indentures, and some of Judge John Glenn's and his son William Wilkins Glenn’s personal correspondence, including letters from Reverdy Johnson, Daniel Webster, Robert E. Lee, Jefferson Davis, Maryland Governor Thomas Pratt, General Henry Heth, General Louis Wigfall.
Maryland Volunteers 2nd Regiment records
The Maryland Volunteers 2nd Regiment records contain materials related to Company A of the unit. Muster rolls, receipts, records of payments, certificates of discharge and hospitalization related to Lt. George W. Booth are highlights of the collection. The collection also contains documentation of the hospitalization and subsequent discharge of Sgt. William Zepp for mental illness.
Small print-subject collection
The Small Print-Subject Collection consists of over 1,300 advertisements, woodcuts, etchings, drawings, newspaper images, newspaper clippings, small booklets, and other items. Most date from the 18th and 19th century. The prints in this collection are less than 10 x 15 inches in size.
